Vol. 1 - Ch. 302 - The Clan’s Genius
Vol. 1 - Ch. 302 - The Clan’s Genius
After examining everything, Ji Yang fell into deep thought. At first glance, this branch seemed of little use. However, since Vitality was not shared, it meant that if the main trunk were destroyed, Ji Yang could regrow himself through the branch.
However, Ji Yang sensed that transferring all his consciousness into the branch would cause his original body to perish. It was best not to do so unless absolutely necessary, but the branch could serve as a safeguard.
The branch’s primary purpose was to connect with the clan. It strengthened ties between distant places, ensuring that clansmen outside the Chaotic Burial Mountains would not be deprived of his protection.
Moreover, it freed Ji Yang’s awareness from being confined to the Chaotic Burial Mountains, allowing him to see farther afield. That was no small advantage.
Could he one day control an entire region if he planted enough branches?
This thought stirred in Ji Yang’s mind, and he resolved to test it later. After all, this divine ability only required a few points of Vitality to use.
Having understood the capabilities of the branch, Ji Yang returned his consciousness to his main body but left a trace of his awareness in the branch to receive messages from the clansmen.
…
“Qingmeng, what are you looking at?”
Outside of Yong'an City, Chen Qinghe had just returned from a clan mission when he asked,
“Qingmeng, what are you looking at?”
Chen Qingmeng pointed toward the distant dust cloud.
"I think I just saw Uncle Tianjing and the others heading back."
Chen Qinghe looked into the distance, then shook his head.
"You must be mistaken. My father wouldn't return without telling me. He still has responsibilities here."
"Come on, let's head into the city."
The two did not hesitate and turned toward the gates.
Three years had added a touch of steadiness to their faces. With the clan’s supply of Blood Rice, Chen Qinghe had reached the early stage of the Blood Coagulation Realm, and Chen Qingmeng had advanced to the late stage of the Body Tempering Realm, ready to break through.
Along the way, many passersby quickly stepped aside upon seeing their clan attire.
The two were long accustomed to this. In recent years, the Chen Clan had taken full control of Yong’an City. Few in the city did not recognize the Chen family. This authority stemmed not only from the clan’s prestige but also from the tireless efforts of its members.
This is what the clan deserves!
But before they had gone far, they heard voices of astonishment:
"Weren't those members of the Chen Clan who were just leaving the city?"
"Riding on Azure Wolves—no doubt about it!"
"So many of them at once... Could the Chen Clan be planning something big? Strange, I haven’t heard any rumors!”
Many onlookers were puzzled, unable to grasp the reason.
Hearing these discussions, Chen Qinghe quickly pulled Chen Qingmeng toward the clan compound.
"They really left?"
When the two arrived and saw the tightly shut clan gates, their faces froze in disbelief.
"Qinghe, even the Azure Wolves are gone," Chen Qingmeng called out from the nearby wolf pens.
Chen Qinghe’s expression remained steady and unshaken.
"If all the clansmen have left, then something major must have happened. We came back through the south gate. If you didn't mistake it, then my father and the others must have returned to the clan."
"But what great matter would require all the clansmen to return? It’s not even the season for the Blood Rice harvest.”
“I understand now!”
After careful thought, Chen Qinghe's eyes lit up in Yong’an City. He quickly pulled Qingmeng along as they rushed out of the city.
"Qingmeng, come! We're returning to the clan!"
…
“Has Tianjing returned?”
In the main hall of the clan, Chen Xingzhen asked.
Chen Tianyu nodded.
"They're close. They’ll likely arrive tonight.”
"Good. Notify the clansmen that tomorrow, they must all gather at the ancestral hall. I have an important announcement to make.”
Chen Xingzhen’s face glowed with vitality. Beside him, Chen Tianyu hesitated.
"Clan Leader, isn't this a bit too soon?"
Chen Xingzhen smiled and shook his head.
"It's about time. A year or two earlier or later makes little difference. What matters most is that the Divine Tree has awakened.”
Hearing this, Chen Tianyu said no more.
Meanwhile, Ji Yang had spent the past two days reviewing everything that had happened in the clan during his three years of slumber.
Among these events, Chen Qingyu’s departure stirred a sigh in Ji Yang’s heart.
By then, it seemed that the clan had already stabilized. While Ji Yang was in a deep slumber, Chen Qingyu had chosen to venture out alone.
Though the distance was too great for Ji Yang to sense Chen Qingyu’s exact location, the Incense Power blessed him with the ability to feel that Qingyu was safe and had advanced further in cultivation over the past three years.
Before leaving, Chen Qingyu had already reached the mid-stage of the Innate Realm. Now, it seemed he had stepped into the late stage of the Innate Realm.
Given his talent, he might break through to the Qi Manipulation Realm in a few more years, becoming the clan’s first Qi Manipulation cultivator and leading the Chen Clan into the ranks of the middle-tier families.
However, a middle-tier clan requires over a thousand members. Even after three years of rest and recovery, the Chen Clan’s numbers remained modest. Even counting the children, they had only surpassed three hundred.
Additionally, Ji Yang noted the rise of the clan’s first group of awakened children.
In just a few short years, these children had grown into youths and had begun tempering their bodies with the aid of the clan’s Blood Rice.
The first to awaken, Chen Qingcheng, had recently finished his initial body tempering, becoming a martial artist in the early stage of the Body Tempering Realm.
Usually, it would take at least ten years for clan children to begin body tempering. Yet now, more than half of that time had been cut out.
Furthermore, this group of awakened children had extraordinary talent in martial cultivation. Their comprehension even surpassed that of ordinary clansmen. In the past, individuals like them would have been considered rare geniuses worthy of the clan’s full support.
Now, however, the clan had more than twenty such prodigies.
In fact, one might say that every child born into the clan from this point forward would be a genius.
At this rate, the clan's future was indeed bright.
Because of this, on the second day after Ji Yang’s awakening, many clansmen brought their newborns to the ancestral hall for awakening.
Chen Xingzhen did not stop them.
For the clan to grow strong, some sacrifices were inevitable. This was the clan’s primordial accumulation. Other families lacked the strength to awaken their children, even if they wished to do so.
Seeing that none of the clansmen objected, Ji Yang did not refuse.
Although the awakening process consumed some of his Vitality and Spiritual Power, the clan’s future was far more important.
Even with the considerable Spiritual Power he had accumulated over three years, facing dozens of newborn children left him somewhat strained. This was partly because he had not activated his Spirit Consumption cultivation method during that time.
As his Spiritual Power neared the hundred-point mark, Ji Yang stopped the awakenings.
He needed to save some for later. After all, now that he had awakened, his Spirit Consumption method was constantly running. Once his Spiritual Power was replenished, he could continue awakening the children.
