In the absence of the Divine Tree, the clan's development over the past few years had lagged behind.Children born during this time showed none of the extraordinary changes of those born before the Divine Tree's decline.

Thanks to the Blood Rice Fruit, several clansmen advanced to the late stage of the Blood Coagulation Realm. However, without the support of the Divine Tree, breaking through to the Innate Realm was difficult.

In truth, the slumber of the Divine Tree had brought about more consequences than this alone. Still, these consequences were enough to make every clansman realize just how vital the Divine Tree was to their future.

Chen Xingzhen watched the lively scene in the plaza for a while longer before turning toward the ancestral hall.

However, the decline of his qi and blood, coupled with the clan's endless affairs, had left his already aged body more hunched and his spirit far less vigorous.

He did not concern himself with this, however.

All he hoped was that the clan’s daily prayers would awaken the Divine Tree sooner. After all, he didn't have much time left.

“Clan Leader Chen, please wait.”

Just as Chen Xingzhen was about to head toward the ancestral hall, he heard a voice call out to him from behind.

He turned around and smiled warmly as he greeted the person behind him.

“So it’s Mr. Gu. But isn’t today a rest day? How is it that you still have time to come by?”

Gu Yu’s face wore a gentle smile.

"Nothing pressing at home today, so I thought I'd come for a walk.

“Time spares no one. A human life...how fleeting it truly is.”

As he looked at the youths practicing martial arts in the plaza, Gu Yu sighed aloud.

Beside him, Chen Xingzhen, who had been preparing to leave, felt the same sentiment stir within him.

"Yes... Life between heaven and earth is like a white colt passing through a crack; it's gone in an instant."

Recalling the past, Chen Xingzhen's eyes also grew complicated.

After a brief exchange, Gu Yu suddenly shifted the topic.

"Clan Leader Chen, have you ever thought of breaking through to the Innate Realm? I’ve heard that once a martial artist steps into the Innate Realm, his lifespan can be extended by decades.”

Chen Xingzhen chuckled at this.

"The Innate Realm does indeed grant several decades more of life. But, Mr. Gu, you may not know, my years are already advanced. Though I am in the late stage of the Blood Coagulation Realm, the gap to the Innate Realm is as vast as a chasm, though it is only a single step. In this lifetime, I fear it will be impossible to cross.”

"I don't see it that way. If Clan Leader Chen is willing, then it's not a big deal.”

Gu Yu spoke these words lightly, but they reached Chen Xingzhen’s ears.

He couldn't help but glance sideways and meet Gu Yu’s smiling gaze.

Looking closer, he realized that, though this was still the same Mr. Gu of the clan, there was something different about him at that moment. He had a noble bearing and a gaze that was utterly transformed.

Though it was the same man, the difference in aura was like heaven and earth. In fact, Chen Xingzhen felt a strange sense of familiarity emanating from him.

In that instant, he understood. His eyes widened with excitement, his body trembled slightly, and joy spread across his face.

"What does Clan Leader Chen think?" Ji Yang asked with a smile, steadying Chen Xingzhen as he prepared for ancestral worship.

For a moment, expectation flickered in Chen Xingzhen’s eyes.

But he soon calmed himself. Though he remained joyful, he did not rush to answer. Instead, he fell into deep thought.

Seeing this, Ji Yang did not interrupt; he simply waited patiently for Chen Xingzhen’s reply.

After a short while, it seemed as if Chen Xingzhen had settled on an answer. He shook his head and said,

"I accept the Divine Tree's goodwill with gratitude. But whether or not I break through to the Innate Realm is not my true desire.

“If possible, I only hope that the Divine Tree will continue to protect the clan.”

Hearing this, Ji Yang fell silent. Of course, he understood that Chen Xingzhen’s plea for protection was not a simple request. There was a deeper meaning behind it.

After a moment of silence, Ji Yang nodded.

"Very well. I promise you.”

Hearing this, Chen Xingzhen could no longer hide the smile spreading across his face.

But before he could thank him, Gu Yu's demeanor shifted. The brilliance in his eyes faded and became clouded. His expression turned blank and confused.

"Hm? Clan Leader Chen? Why am I here?"

"Mr. Gu, I'll have the clansmen escort you home shortly. There are matters I must attend to in the ancestral hall," replied Chen Xingzhen.

Chen Xingzhen said no more, but quickly rushed toward the ancestral hall.

In that moment, his aged body seemed to burst forth with renewed vitality.

Gu Yu, still confused about what had just happened, watched him from behind with envy. Soon, however, he felt his own body lighten as well.

Hm? Could it be that the older he grew, the stronger he became?

Many clansmen wore expressions of astonishment as they watched their clan leader sprint toward the ancestral hall. Before they could make sense of what was happening, a command swiftly rang out:

"All clansmen, gather at the ancestral hall immediately!"

Upon hearing this, many seemed to understand. Excitement lit their faces as they rushed toward the hall, too.

"Clan Uncle Qingcheng, wait for me!" a youthful voice called out amidst the commotion.

Soon, Chen Tianyu and the others who had received the news arrived. Only those stationed in Yong’an City remained unaware.

"Clan Leader."

Chen Tianyu's face was filled with excitement as well. Yet, upon entering the ancestral hall, he found nothing unusual. This left him puzzled.

Just as Chen Tianyu was about to ask, his entire body suddenly trembled. He had felt it. A surge of rich vitality emanated from the Divine Tree ahead.

Under the watchful eyes of the gathered clansmen, the once lifeless and withered Divine Tree began to change.

The aged trunk quickly radiated new vigor, and the barren branches sprouted fresh green leaves.

Countless hidden patterns resurfaced on the bark as the tree revived.

Flowers and grasses burst forth from the ground, racing to grow wildly.

In less than a few breaths, the Divine Tree had returned to its former glory and continued to grow upward.

Below, Chen Tianyu gazed up at the tree and suddenly felt something. Looking at his arm, he saw that the limb he had lost in the last great battle was rapidly regenerating.

Around him, his fellow clansmen, already overwhelmed with emotion, noticed the same thing happening to them. They looked at their own injuries and found them healed.

Every wound they had suffered in past years was healed in that instant. Even the qi and blood within their bodies surged anew, becoming far more active.

As the dense canopy of the Divine Tree blocked out the sunlight above the clansmen and its trunk rose more than ten zhang into the air, the transformation finally slowed.

Seeing the Divine Tree stronger than ever before, the clansmen could no longer contain their joy.

“Hahaha! Wonderful! The Divine Tree has awakened!”

"My father will return too!"

"Our clan has hope again!"

Above them, the faces of Chen Changming and the other clansmen who had perished in past battles also revealed expressions of delight.

After years of waiting, the clan’s Divine Tree had finally entered a new phase of revival. Now, they could advance further too!

Under the gaze of all present, the branches and leaves of the Divine Tree soon bore fruit—one green fruit after another appeared.

There were more than ten of them. Though indistinct, the clansmen knew what they represented.

Those ten fruits represented the fallen clansmen from the last great battle. With the rebirth of the Divine Tree, these clansmen would finally return to the world of the living.
