Chapter 50 Embrace
Chapter 50 Embrace
When it finally quieted down, all that remained were the intermittent crackling of electricity and the occasional faint noises from some of the damaged parts that hadn't completely shut down.
The outer wall was broken, and the house was in a mess inside and out.
Metal fragments, broken armor, energy fluid, and walls and floors shattered in the battle turned the entire space into ruins.
The vector remained standing, the energy blade in its hand still in place.
The cold, bluish-green light shone on the side of her face, and also on the motionless wreckage on the ground.
Her entire body was still tense. The brightness of the magnetic ring around her chest, which she had just used a few times, was gradually decreasing. The residual heat was still there, and her breathing rate was a little heavier than usual.
She looked at the mess in front of her, but her mind was quite quiet. She knew what she had just done.
More than one, and more than one stab.
She also knew that from this day forward, there were some things that could never be returned to.
But she doesn't regret it.
If she hadn't made a move just now, and had instead retreated and endured as before, then these wouldn't be the ones lying here now.
She gently tucked her fingers in.
The energy blade on the left arm finally retracted into the outer armor with a "whoosh".
Only then did she seem to finally recover from the battle and slowly raise her head.
Zhen Tianzun was standing not far away, and although he hadn't fallen, his condition was definitely not good.
His left arm remained at the angle after raising the shield, while the old and new wounds on his right shoulder and chest had reopened, with energy fluid dripping down the edge of his armor. He still stood very straight, as if the fierce battle hadn't truly broken him.
But those light blue optical glasses were staring at her intently.
No one spoke immediately.
The vector and his gaze met, and the thing that had been taut and compressed finally loosened.
She opened her mouth, her first instinctive question being, "How are you?"
Zhen Tianzun looked at her, and after two seconds, he spoke in a low voice.
"Still alive."
His voice was a little hoarse, and it was that familiar way of saying it that made me want to roll my eyes.
The nerves of the vector finally relaxed slowly, no longer as taut as a guitar string.
She walked towards him, her steps slow.
The frenzied energy from the previous battle was gradually dissipating from his joints, replaced by belated exhaustion and a heavy feeling that slowly surfaced from the depths of his being after the fight.
She walked up to Zhen Tianzun, glanced at his chest, abdomen, shoulders and arms, and her expression turned even uglier.
"You call this still alive?" Her voice was a little hoarse. "If you had contacted me any later, I really would have had to clean up your mess today."
Zhen Tianzun looked down at her, and even slightly tugged at the corner of his mouth: "So I called you."
The vector was choked.
She wanted to continue cursing him, but when she looked up, she saw the energy liquid dripping from the edge of his armor. She remembered that even though he was already injured like this, he still stepped in front of her to protect her from the two blows.
She couldn't say anything right away.
The air fell silent for a moment.
Then Zhen Tianzun suddenly raised his still-intact hand and lightly touched the edge of her arm armor.
"That thing on your chest," he said slowly, his gaze lingering on the edge of her already dimmed flame, "is it still holding up?"
The vector belatedly looked down at its chest.
The cold blue light of the magnetic ring had faded considerably, but it was still there. It seemed that after being fully illuminated, it was no longer going to pretend to be dead.
She paused for two seconds, then honestly said, "I don't know."
Zhen Tianzun hummed in agreement and didn't ask any further questions.
His gaze remained fixed on her, holding so many complex emotions that even he himself might not want to dissect them.
I was shocked, and I was also terrified.
There was something else that welled up in his chest the moment she rushed back, the moment she stood on his side, the moment she unleashed that power to protect him—something he couldn't hide or suppress anymore.
The vector felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze and frowned slightly: "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Zhen Tianzun paused for half a second, then said in a low voice, "Look how capable you've become."
This statement still sounds a bit cheeky, but it seems more like some other emotion that he himself couldn't quite hide, which he could only force into a less direct statement.
Yin Xiang stared at him, his lips twitching slightly, before finally replying, "If we don't improve our skills, we'll both be done for here today."
Zhen Tianzun did not refute.
He looked at the cold light that hadn't completely dissipated from her arm, but the scene from just now was still stuck in his mind.
She raised her hand in the air, and the entire aircraft seemed to be illuminated by anger and killing intent, forcefully shoving the enemy plane that was about to attack him from behind into the wall. In that instant, there was not a trace of retreat or hesitation in her eyes.
Zhen Tianzun will not be distracted in battle.
But precisely at that moment, he did miss a beat.
It's really slag...
Thinking back on it now, it's still the same.
He managed to suppress this almost absurd emotion with great difficulty, and his tone calmed down a bit.
"Don't stand there yet," he said. "Take care of this first, then we'll go fix it up."
The vector seemed to be pulled back to reality, frowning as it scanned its surroundings.
"Deal with what? Let's go down to the repair pod first."
"I'm not at that level yet."
"What you're saying now sounds about as believable as 'I can go back by myself'."
Zhen Tianzun: "..."
well.
The fact that she could still talk back shows that she wasn't scared out of her wits or overwhelmed by the fact that she had killed so many machines for the first time.
Zhen Tianzun looked at her and actually wanted to laugh, but as soon as he moved his shoulder and arm, his wound reminded him that this was not the time to laugh.
The vector had already moved closer, its movements not exactly gentle, but very steady, directly taking over some of his center of gravity.
"Shut up," she whispered. "Go back to the basement first."
Zhen Tianzun looked down at her. He didn't say no again, letting her take a step closer before slowly speaking, his voice so low that only she could hear it.
"Attraction vector".
"What are you doing?"
He paused for a moment before saying, "You came back quickly."
The vector motion paused slightly.
She didn't look up, but continued to help him walk inside. After two seconds, she replied with a laugh-scolding tone:
"Of course, this is my home too."
Zhen Tianzun's light blue optical glasses lingered on her face for a long time, until even Yin Xiangdu began to wonder if what he was saying was too smooth or too strange.
Yin Xiang didn't think about it anymore and was just about to help him walk again when Zhen Tianzun suddenly stopped.
She was startled. She looked up, but before she could ask anything, he had already reached out and pulled her into his arms.
The movement came suddenly and with a bit of force.
The still-intact arm gripped her back and side, pulling her tightly into his embrace.
The entire machine froze for a moment when the vector was activated.
She could clearly feel the aftershocks emanating from beneath the chest armor of the Heavenly Venerable, as well as the lingering heat on his outer armor, the smell of the energy liquid, and the marks of injury on his body.
Her previously steady breath suddenly became disordered, but she did not break free.
After the initial shock subsided, he slowly raised his hand and wrapped it around Zhen Tianzun's waist and back.
Then, very lightly, I patted him twice on the back.
It was as if she was comforting him, and also as if she was comforting herself.
No one spoke first.
The house, which resembled ruins, was eerily quiet. Zhen Tianzun simply held her, showing no intention of letting go immediately.
There are too many unspoken things mixed in.
He felt lingering fear, anger, and a slight loss of control that he didn't want to admit.
Yin Xiang gently pressed his forehead against his shoulder and closed his optical glasses.
At this moment, she couldn't figure anything out in her brain module, but the restless emotions in the spark calmed down a bit.
