Chapter 298: The Former Imperial Grandson

"Little boy, these are some letters I wrote a while ago, here's a reply." The old eunuch handed some envelopes to Yu Huailin.

After reading through all the contents, Yu Huailin decided to meet with one of the people in the document, Hu Tao, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Revenue, since the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Revenue was in charge of finances.

"Young master, shall we go to see him as His Highness?" the old eunuch asked.

"Alright, Your Majesty, I will certainly restore the kingdom for you. If anything happens to you, I will help you as long as it is within my power." Hu Tao said with a face full of sincerity, and he even wiped away his tears with the corner of his clothes.

Others might think the Vice Minister of Revenue was very sincere, but Yu Huailin felt that this person needed further investigation.

"Then go back and find out who truly wants to submit to the imperial grandson." Yu Huailin wanted to test whether Hu Tao was sincere.

A few tears won't move him.

"Your Majesty, I will go back and make the contact immediately." Hu Tao turned around and revealed a vain smile.

Why are you here?

Hu Tao said to the man very respectfully, "I have received news about the Crown Prince."

The mysterious man said, "The Crown Prince is still alive; that is an interesting thing."

Yu Huailin could tell that Hu Tao respected this mysterious man a lot; it seemed that Hu Tao was one of his men.

The mysterious man turned around and continued, "I have seen the Crown Prince himself."

Hu Tao said with some regret, "I was unable to meet the Crown Prince, but I did meet his bodyguard. The bodyguard produced the Crown Prince's gold token, so it should be genuine."

"Keep approaching him. If he asks you to do anything, just do it," the mysterious man instructed Hu Tao.

Hu Tao asked the mysterious man, somewhat puzzled, "Are we really going to help him restore his kingdom?"

"Of course we should help him, but it's to help ourselves."

"Your subordinate will obey your master's orders."

“Once the Crown Prince ascends the throne, he will not have a solid foundation and will definitely listen to us. Besides, the Crown Prince is too young to manage the country. We can make him a puppet emperor.”

The mysterious man couldn't help but burst into laughter as he thought about his grand ambitions.

Seeing the mysterious man laughing so happily, Hu Tao also laughed.

The mysterious man withdrew his smile, his expression turning serious. He patted Hu Tao on the shoulder and said, "You must see the Crown Prince in person now to see if he really exists."

"I will find a way to get the Crown Prince to come out and meet him. He is currently isolated and helpless, and he certainly needs the old ministers of the previous dynasty, but how many old ministers are willing to help him?"

The mysterious man continued to say to Hu Tao, "Once the great undertaking is accomplished, you will certainly receive your share of the benefits."

The mysterious man was very satisfied with Hu Tao's answer.

"Go back and make arrangements, and follow his instructions."

Hu Tao said with great difficulty, "Master, you are unaware that the Crown Prince has asked me to go back and find out who else is willing to submit to him."

"Find a few elderly, weak, sick, or disabled people, or people under our control."

The mysterious man might be difficult to control later.

"Your subordinate knows what to do?"

Yu Huailin looked at the two men's so-called grand cause and gave a cold laugh. "I, Yu Huailin, am not someone that anyone can manipulate."
